The group spans dealmaking, wealth management, technology, and support roles, reflecting the diverse businesses inside America's biggest bank by assets. The promotions were global, with employees from Switzerland and Luxembourg to Singapore and Hong Kong receiving new titles. JPMorgan declined to comment.Within the divisions housing the firm's M&A and IPO bankers, as well as the traders who run its high-profile markets business, 135 people scored the bump to MD.This year's class is larger than last year's, when JPMorgan promoted 118 employees in global banking and markets to MD, as part of its annual springtime promotion ritual.JPMorgan reported $16.5 billion in net income for the first quarter, up 13% year-over-year. Its commercial and investment bank generated about $9 billion in net income, up 30%, as dealmaking improved across Wall Street.
