The hottest temperature ever recorded in every state

A dangerous heat wave is sweeping parts of the US, but many states set their all-time hottest temperature records decades ago.Alexi Rosenfeld/Getty ImagesGlobal temperatures continue to increase, with 2024 recording the warmest numbers on record. In 2021, Oregon, Utah, and Washington broke heat records. The highest temperature ever recorded in the US was 134 degrees Fahrenheit in California in 1913.Americans are feeling the heat as high temperatures sweep across the country. In January, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). reported that 2024 was the hottest year on record, and 2026 is shaping up to be a scorcher too, with the European heat wave breaking records and creating a rising death toll. This week, the National Weather Service warned that dangerous, potentially record-breaking heat would spread across the eastern two-thirds of the US, prompting heat advisories ahead of the Independence Day weekend. Here's a list of every state and its hottest day on record.ALABAMA: 112 degrees FahrenheitMontgomery, Alabama.
